Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, the meaning of festival is for millions of families to come together and greetings with each other joy, peace, healthy and prosperity.
Traditionally, the festival lasts for 15 days, officially begins on Feb. 16 (New Year) and end on Mar.2nd (Lantern Festival). Today, celebrations are usually concentrated into the first 6 days in Taiwan.
New Year’s Eve, people usually do the activities as pasting Spring Festival couplets, having reunion abundant dinner, setting off fireworks, cleaning their houses to sweep away bad fortune
on New Year’s Day. Traditionally, kids would be given red envelopes stuffed with lucky money and positive wishes on New Year’s Day.
Moreover, grown- up children also give their elder parents red envelopes to wish parents a healthy and long life.
At the 1st day of New Year, people like to set off firecrackers, eat dumplings (symbolize getting more fortune), watching traditional lion dances and visiting relatives and friends.
2nd day is for married daughters returning to their original homes. Chinese lunar new year ends on Mar.2, the 15th day, be called Lantern Festival.
Which animal represents 2018, the year is linked directly to the Chinese zodiac- a list of 12 animals, with 2018 being the year of the dog.
Dog symbolizes as loyal, sociable, courageous, diligent, steady, lively, adaptable, smart.
